December 18 – Christmas Every Day?

In Joshua 4 we see that at the times in our lives when we need to take a step of faith, times when we have something big on the horizon, or actually every day, we can look back to what God has said and what God has done to draw strength, hope, and courage for the future.

GOD PERFORMS SUPERNATURAL ACTS SO THAT ALL THE PEOPLES OF THE EARTH SHOULD KNOW THAT THE HAND OF THE LORD IS MIGHTY!

As Christians, we can look back on these supernatural acts and draw hope for the future. One huge, glaringly obvious one is the birth of the Messiah, something we will celebrate in just a few days time. We are marking and celebrating that God so loved the world that He gave His only son, Jesus, the Word of God (John 1.1, 3.16).

Jesus, there in the beginning, there with God.

Jesus, who came to earth and dwelt among us.

Jesus, who took up a temporary residence among us.

This time of year we are preparing for Christmas and we are preparing to pause to mark the birth of our Lord and Saviour. What an occasion to look back on!

There is so much to look back on from the account of Jesus’ birth, so much to draw hope for the future from, so much to take from it into our everyday lives that, in the words of British glam rock band Wizzard:

“I wish it could be Christmas every day!”.
