Today we see the seventh bowl being poured out, and it’s is poured out into the air. After this we hear from the throne a loud voice say “It is done!”. The voice of our great God speaking in this chapter of great judgement and great evil.
17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying,
“It is done!”
18 And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake.
19 The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found. 21 And great hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, fell from heaven on people; and they cursed God for the plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe.
Sometimes things in our lives signify and show us that something is very wrong, don’t they. Take the weather, for example. Bahrain is a sun-drenched desert island in the Gulf; sun, sea, and sand, hot, humid, and happy. So, when the weather is dark, dreary, and dull, windy, wild, and wet, it tells us that something is wrong. Wading through water to get to the car also tells us that something is wrong!
Here in Revelation 16 we see something that, for residents of the Eastern Mediterranean, or, actually, for anyone really, is very wrong. John describes great hailstones, about one hundred pounds each falling from heaven on people. Can you imagine, a 45 kg hailstone falling from the sky? Something is wrong, and the hailstones show it. They are often used in the Bible to show us that something is wrong, check Exodus 9.24, Joshua 10.11, Isaiah 28.2, and Ezekiel 38.22.
What is happening in your life right now as a sign to you that something is wrong?
Maybe it’s physical, your body is telling you something is wrong.
Maybe it’s mental, your mind is telling you something is wrong.
Maybe it’s spiritual, that still small voice is telling you something is wrong.
Either way, we need to listen. We need to be mindful and aware of when things are wrong, because if we do not, we make things all the more worse for ourselves. Rather than cursing God because things are bad, why not surrender the problem to Him, ask Him for help, and watch Him make a way where you saw none before.
