07.03.19 – Fall – Thursday Music

This week for Thursday music Fall by The Belonging Co.

Today’s song starts like this,

My eyes above what it looks like

My eyes above what it looks like

I will only see

All You promised me

Are we looking at the world around us for direction and guidance, or are we looking to Jesus, captain and perfecter of our faith?

Let the weight of Heaven

Fall, Fall, Fall

Have your way, Have your way

Sometimes it can feel like the weight of the world is falling on us; busy, stressed, angry, empty, lost, mourning, lonely, aimless, wandering, alone…The weight of the world, the flesh, and the devil can get us down, but it must not get us down. The weight of heaven is, paradoxically, easy and light (Matthew 11.29-30), and when we submit and commit to living with the yoke and burden of Jesus on us, the weight of the world is no longer on our shoulders.

My faith beyond what it feels like

My faith beyond what it feels like

All the way to You

Often nowadays lots of modern worship songs are too focused on us; I will do this…I feel like this…

The only I will…in worship should be us lifting up God’s name in praise, regardless of the external circumstances we find ourselves in.

Often nowadays faith and feeling are too closely linked, so when we don’t feel like X/Y/Z then therefore our faith is low. Ours is a faith that goes beyond feeling, ours is a faith that is based on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, ours is a faith that is perfectly platformed on the Word of God.

Feelings are good, feel your feelings! But the Bible is quick to tell us that they can’t be trusted (Proverbs 3.5, 28.26, Jeremiah 17.9).

As a believer in Jesus, we are called to live by faith, and walk with Him despite what we may feel, see, or hear (2 Corinthians 5.7).

Something’s changing in the spirit

Something’s breaking I can feel it

Heaven come down

The feeling we will most certainly get is that Jesus is changing us from the inside out, that the indwelling Holy Spirit give us new desires, new priorities, new goals, a new life, that we are now in right relationship with God the Father; that is the feeling we will get, and it is unshakeable, unbreakable, and inescapable.
