Leaving Thessalonica (v.10) Paul and Silas travel to Berea. As was their habit when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue. We often hear about the Bereans being model listeners, don’t we?
See, they heard the Word and then went to check it was true…
See, they received the word with all eagerness…(v.11).
Really though, the main reason we should aspire to be more Berean is found in v.12:
“Therefore many of them believed, along with quite a few prominent Greek women and men.”

Yes, it is great to receive the Word with all eagerness.
Yes, it is great to examine the Scriptures daily to see if what you are being told and taught is true.
More importantly, however, is to believe.
Because of how they received the Word, because of how they searched the Scriptures, therefore many of them believed.
For you and for me, we should indeed try to be more Berean in our approach to Scripture, but with the overall goal of believing more in the person that Scripture testifies to: Jesus.
