It’s taken a little while to get to post #1000. When I started as pastor at Saar Fellowship here in Bahrain I wanted to provide the church with a daily dose of God’s Word in their world, and so working through whole books of the Bible day by day started.

Revelation: Day by Day by [James Travis]We jumped right in with Revelation. I had recently taught it to the church’s youth group and wanted to begin our day by day journey with something big. Some of the posts were on another platform, but the complete set of devotionals have been published here.

From memory we’ve got around sixteen or seventeen books published now: available on Amazon in print, kindle, and iBooks too. They are priced as cheaply as Amazon will allow (I think the royalty per book is around 3c). It will come as no surprise that I’ve never had an author-payout for selling books…They are out there to simply be out there, not to make money. Joshua: Day By Day by [James Travis]

Since Revelation we’ve covered many more whole books of the Bible day by day. I always enjoy working through the often-overlooked books: Lamentations, Philemon, Amos, Obadiah, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther come to mind as texts I enjoyed walking through. This is in addition to more commonly read books of our Bibles; Acts, Romans, Joshua, Galatians, and Ephesians are all available, day by day, free of charge, via the homepage.

Moses: A Christ-centred Devotional For YOUR Life by [James Travis]Pray BIG PrayersAlong with the day by day devotional-commentary style posts there have been topical series from time to time too. I have really enjoyed writing things like Pray BIG Prayers, Moses, Bent Out of Shape, Last Words, and Spiritual Depression. At Christmas we often republish (with updates) a 24-day journey from 1 December to Christmas Eve, co-written with others from within the church family.

As well as the series’, be they purely Scriptural or sometimes topical, there are days when a specific truth needs to be shared. COVID provided a few of those opportunities to speak into particular situations, as do days like World Mental Health Day. There are upwards of 100 topical devotionals available via the homepage.

The plan for this site is to keep going as it has been until there is a complete Genesis to Revelation teaching available. I’d like to provide – through written pieces, podcasts, and sermons – an entire-Bible resource for the church here. We’re about 2/3 through that at the moment (Ephesians is the 46th completed book), and I hope you will join me for the next 1000 posts as we continue to work towards that goal.

James
